YUFE is delighted to announce that our application in response to the 2022 Erasmus+ European Universities call has been selected for funding worth €14.4m with a score of 92/100!

This is a significant milestone for our YUFE Alliance, which continues to be a frontrunner among European Universities. Over 50 proposals were submitted from 350 higher education institutions looking to develop radical change within European higher education.

You can find more information about all selected proposals on the website of the European Commission: https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_22_4702

During the first phase (December 2019 - November 2022), we piloted many important actions contributing to our vision of a European University and learned many lessons.

You can find out more about our reflection in our midterm report here: https://yufe.eu/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/YUFE_18Months_V2.pdf

The second phase of the YUFE initiative (December 2022 - November 2026) will focus on: upscaling, deepening and further developing the activities and services we have designed so far and remodelling those that proved less successful to fit the needs of our target groups better.

YUFE's unique strength lies in our shared values, our history of effective collaboration and the concrete progress we are making, which has given us the reputation of being one of the most successful and impactful models among European Universities Initiatives. We are pursuing our joint ambition to establish a more equitable, flexible, diverse and societally impactful European higher education and research system by strengthening structural collaboration between academic institutions, the world of work, the non-profit sector, decision-makers and civil society through our YUFE quadruple helix.

In the words of Professor Rianne Letschert, Chair of the YUFE Alliance and President of Maastricht University, the coordinating institution of the YUFE Alliance:

We are very proud that YUFE's model of a young, student-centred, non-elitist, open and inclusive European University has established itself as a frontrunner and role model for European education. We are strongly committed to building the future of higher education. We will continue to deliver concrete programmes and organise impactful and accessible activities for our communities of European students, researchers, innovators, citizens and professionals.

As Dr Daniela Trani, Director of the YUFE Alliance at Maastricht University, says: “This new grant from the European Commission will give the YUFE Alliance a boost, enabling us to take another major step in our pioneering work, which is translating our dream of a true European University into an institutional reality that crosses borders, cultures, disciplines and sectors. We are grateful for the commitment of all our partners. We acknowledge the efforts of all students and staff who show every day that they believe in our joint European vision. Looking ahead to the coming years, YUFE seeks to continue inspiring other institutions and alliances, as we believe that building capacity beyond our European University will be key to systematic impact."
